SANDS OF TIME - Volume #1

The History of BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Volume #1: 1895-1969.

"SANDS OF TIME" is a complete history of Men and Women's beach volleyball, including its roots that began with the indoor game.

The book discloses how the game made its way to the sands of California after the "FIRST DOCUMENTED" beach volleyball game was played on the sands of Hawaii's Outrigger Canoe Club in 1915.

The book that volleyball players and fans have been waiting for! This is the first book that has been devoted primarily to the history of BEACH VOLLEYBALL! There are 272 pages of beach volleyball stories and anecdotes, along with tournament results. The book includes nearly 500 photographs of the events, venues and players of BEACH VOLLEYBALL.

In the first chapter, pages 1-28, the first 50 years of volleyball is discussed. Most of the information and rare photographs relate to the indoor game. The indoor game was the "motivation" for the game of "BEACH VOLLEYBALL." In order to document the history of BEACH VOLLEYBALL, it was important to illustrate its original roots.

The remaining 244 pages cover BEACH VOLLEYBALL, beginning with the second chapter, revealing the "Birth" of BEACH VOLLEYBALL and illustrating how the indoor game contributed to the "conception" of the beach game.

You are then guided up to and through beach volleyball's "Golden" years" of the 1950's in the third chapter. There are many classic and rare, never before seen photo's of the players, characters and venues of this era, including the 1957 extravaganza at State Beach.

The fourth chapter covers the 1960's, referred to as the "Adolescent" years of BEACH VOLLEYBALL. This chapter includes photo's and stories of some of the most unbelievable events in the history of the game.
